Anonymiss in DC

{April 13, 2010}   Anyone watching 24?

Is anyone still watching 24? I feel deprived of people with whom to discuss this, so I’m resorting to the blog, once again. (You know you all miss my minute-to-minute summaries from last season! Ha!) Actually, I’m rather shocked: do you know I’ve actually missed a couple of episodes this season and I’m not all that inclined to watch them? *Gasp* This is so not like me.

Luckily, I still love it. I say luckily mainly because I feel like at this point the only people who still “love it” (like me) don’t actually care anymore…we’re just along for the wild ride of the last season because we want to see what the writers are going to throw our way.  So remember your audience, Fox. We’ve been loyal. Don’t screw it up! Read the rest of this entry »

{May 28, 2009}   24 Season 7, 2-3 am

Whoops…forgot to click the publish button when I watched this. This may be my last official recap for the season (it’s too much effort:P), although I will write something up eventually about the ending and all that. For now, enjoy…:P

Anyway. So 2-3 am. Go!

I liked this one– way to add in new bad guys, freak us out about Tony, and make Jon Voight’s character/plotline make more sense.

Oh, and— way to keep us interested in the history between Renee and Larry, even though Larry’s now dead. Hands down, my favorite line of the night was Renee’s saying, on getting the news on Larry: “Somebody should call Larry’s ex wife…and it probably shouldn’t be me.” Read the rest of this entry »

{April 21, 2009}   24 Season 7, 1-2 am

Well it’s 1 am, and ain’t nobody going to sleep anytime soon, that’s for sure. Phew!

Guess what?? No Olivia this week! Boohoo, I’m so sad! (Not! There is, however, Kim.)

So Tony and Jack have figured out that the president called off the air strike on  after being threatened by Jonas.  Jack calls her up and tells her Tony can blow up the truck with the weapons in it. Because she can’t authorize it overtly, she says something uber subtle like “Jack, I know you’re dying. I trust you’ll do the right thing” and hangs up.

Everyone’s kind of like WTF, except Jack, who’s like “Don’t you get it?? She wants us to do this!” Miraculously, Renee, Tony, and even Larry, are down with the plan. (Really gives you the impression they just don’t care what happens to Larry, doesn’t it?)

Home stretch! 8 hours to go!

So 11-12 was another pretty exciting one. I love this show.  I really really do.

Comments from others:

P: Last episode [11-12] was more dramatic than usual.

S: This season is SO much better than last season. (My response to this was:  “Yeah…what happened last season again? :P)

So let’s see…where do I even start.

I thought it was hilarious that CDC pulls over to the side of the road with this big massive truck, and they all get out in their biohazard suits, make Jack strip naked, and essentially powerwash him. Aren’t we like,  in the shoulder lane? Can you imagine if you were driving down the road and you saw all these people in biohazard suits powerwashing a buck-naked Jack Bauer? I’m sure that wouldn’t freak anyone out at all!

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes a little bit at everyone taking an obligatory pause to check out Jack’s patchwork quilt of scars. The CDC people, then Renee… blah blah blah.  It’s not like I forgot that Jack is tougher than Superman!

For a sec there, when Jack was sitting in the isolation quarters inside the truck, and they opened the doors, I thought “Oh good, he’s not infected” (while simultaneously being like “Really?? What are the chances of that? That would have been kind of interesting.”)

{March 24, 2009}   24 Season 7, 10-11 pm

Well, even though this episode wasn’t as exciting as the last couple, I suppose that’s inevitable, and even though it started out kind of “blah”, it definitely picked up there towards the end.

Let’s start with the mostly boring stuff. Ethan finds out Mayer got murdered and that Jack probably did it. He’s really upset that he authorized Jack’s release, and tells the president he needs to resign to shield her presidency. They have this touching emotional goodbye– she takes his hand and all that. I’m still not convinced there’s not more going on between them, but I could be wrong.

{March 23, 2009}   24 Season 7, 8-9 and 9-10 pm

So sue me; I’m writing one entry for both of these episodes. Enough is enough. 24 overload. The good news is, I am FINALLY caught up. I’m a little 24-ed out at the moment, so, forgive me if this is less than coherent as usual–not that my 24 entries are usually coherent (I wrote the last two while watching. I hope y’all appreciate that–it necessitated my PAUSING 24 to write. That’s practically a sin.)

So anyway. 24. Where were we? Things have gone a long way over the last two hours, when Olivia was sitting in a chair about to get her eyeballs cut out, and the new annoying vice president with the southern twang was insisting to Larry that he couldn’t authorize the FBI to go in and rescue people.

{March 15, 2009}   24, Season 7, 7-8 pm

Whaddya know, Olivia’s back. Not that I missed her.

“With all due respect, Ethan, you’re the last person [my mother] should have sent,” she just snipped. Ooh! A back story involving Ethan!! Innnnteerrressting.

I love Renee running around through storm drains and all that (where the hell IS she?)..she finds a cop in uniform and tells him to quick, let Larry know– the attack is on the White House– and like clockwork, he’s just calling it in when he gets gunned down by Baby Dubaku.  So nobody knows what’s about to happen, awesome. And of course, Renee doesn’t grab the walkie. In fairness, I guess she didn’t have a whole lot of time, seeing as the kid with the machine gun was running around, but then again, I kind of think if he was going to shoot her, he could’ve done it about five times already. She’s definitely going to have a face-to-face run in with this kid at some point and tell him Daddy’s kicked the bucket. It’s jut a matter of time.

{March 11, 2009}   24 Season 7: 6-7 pm

Sorry I am behind…

Random Thoughts:

Sengala City is a city in Sengala? HA. I love the creativity, people.

I’m loving the first interactions between Chloe and Janis. I’m loving Chloe’s eye-rolling.  I love Chloe (obviously.) And even though I know the point was for me to be annoyed with Janis for using her nerdy aptitude to bust Chloe for messing with the data on Dubaku’s “digital storage device”, I’m still annoyed with her. I can’t help it! I kind of want to punch her for Chloe. Chloe still looks pretty non-plussed, even as they’re dragging her off to holding. I can’t decide if that’s awesome, or if I think it’s not really in-character, considering what’s now at stake…

In other news…

{March 5, 2009}   24 Season 7, 5-6 pm

This is a good one!  I’m not saying it’s not predictable– I think I’ve just been watching this show too long for that– but it is pretty intense! Love it!

First off,  I love the fact that the dumb-blonde, emotionally unstable girlfriend of Sean-the-bad-ass is involved in all this…. although it’s immediately obvious that she’s a liability and will likely be “eliminated”, as the lingo goes…

Back to good-girl Renee, who’s freaking out about getting Marika away from Dubaku. “She’s not an asset, Jack! She’s a human being!”

Oh come on. Seriously. Enough already.

{February 24, 2009}   24 Season 7, 4-5 pm

Hmm.  I knew I shouldn’t have watched 5-6 pm before this one, but I couldn’t help it!

Over at the White House, where the President’s just heard her husband’s been shot,  Bill seems mighty ready to jump on the chance to get his government clearance back and take over her security detail. It’s starting to look more and more like he’s going to turn out to be more bad-ass than the peach fuzz on his chin, but I’m hoping I’m just being paranoid about that, because I’m a fan of Bill and his new look.
